About me as a therapist:
My experience extends beyond thirty years of working across the areas of mental health and social care, encompassing the voluntary, statutory, business and creative sectors. In those years I have managed borough-wide multidisciplinary initiatives, managed teams and worked closely with vulnerable families and young people.
Intersectional communities, including issues of race, inequality and discrimination, neurodivergence, sexuality, addiction, life and sport’s coaching, mindfulness, mental health and wellbeing have all shaped the foundation of my vocation. My psychotherapeutic approach encompasses an integrative style, blending aspects of soulfulness, psychotherapy, psychology, coaching and supervising.
We are all unique. I will work with you, the individual, as I utilise approaches that I feel will best suit your own journey and what brings you to therapy. Within this, we can explore the current life issues that impact on your emotional health and wellbeing, as well as giving space to your history, experiences and childhood memories. Whether there are struggles or traumas, or issues touching on complex relationships, work dynamics or other aspects such as identity, race, confidence & self- esteem issues, depression or anxiety, or a deep desire for positive change. I will be there supporting you without judgment.
I work with all issues. As a psychotherapist my integrative approach will involve working empathically, intuitively and with curiosity. I will bring in methods that are relevant to what is currently taking place for you. We may also give space for the more soulful and existential aspects of your life, drawing upon dreams, stories and metaphors and use imagery whilst giving space to your hopes and aspirations.
Therapy with me is a process and a soulful journey, deepening our resilience to working with the unknown and sometimes revealing answers; and just as importantly it is an invitation to raise your awareness and acceptance of who you are today.
I am an accredited member of BACP and have worked at Spiral since 2009.
I currently work at Spiral on Mondays and Wednesdays.
About me as a supervisor:
I am an accredited member of BACP and have been at Spiral since January 2009.
I manage and supervise both qualified and trainee therapists, including those on placement for the low-cost service at the Spiral Centre. Additionally, since 2010, I have supervised therapists, both qualified and trainees, across different work environments, including therapists working within a psychosocial team in a young people’s project in Hackney and therapists engaged in an LGBTQ project in London.
What you can expect of me as a supervisor is that I will pay attention to the therapeutic and relational aspects of your work. I bring a soulful and integrative approach, working collaboratively with you, whilst bringing in my experience in psychology, counselling, and mindfulness. Our awareness of when the transference and or countertransference becomes present in our client work, can affect and inform the nature of the therapeutic alliance and the way we can work with clients.
Together we will notice what is spoken and unspoken in the therapy room, which can sometimes become mirrored and illuminated in supervision. Our focus will include being aware of our clients’ wounding, and to what then becomes triggered within ourselves. How we find ourselves responding brings great self-awareness and value.
Can we bear to sit in the unknown? Does our rescuer get activated? Where do we feel the frustrations in the work and can we see or bear our clients shadow, these are some of the theories we may explore, as the journey is both your clients and your own.
I work at Spiral on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Fees: My fees start from £85 per session for therapy (limited reduced cost spaces available – please ask upon enquiry); and from £85 for supervision.
