Angie Macdonald

I am completing a Diploma in Mindfulness-based Core Process Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute and am a UKCP Trainee Member. A Mental Health First Aider with MHFA England, I am also a Peer Support Volunteer at BLG Mind.

My background in teaching and coaching, as well as my personal experience of psychotherapy, laid the foundation for wanting to work with people at a deeper psychotherapeutic level. As a core process psychotherapist my approach is underpinned by Buddhist principles of mindfulness, compassion and unconditional acceptance. I believe we are all inherently healthy and wise but it is easy to lose sight of this as we are overcome by life events. Therapy can help us get back in touch with our true self. I often bring awareness to the body in the present moment as a way to get in touch with life experiences that have been stored in our bodies long after our minds have forgotten them.

Originally from South Africa, I am interested in questions around sexuality, sexual identity and difference.

I work at Spiral on Thursday mornings.
