I am a registered member of BACP. I hold a diploma in TA (Transactional Analysis) counselling from Metanoia Institute and I am working towards my MSc.
I have worked in various counselling settings including at Mind and a local hospice supporting clients struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and other life crises. I have also worked with asylum seekers who experienced tremendous loss of their own homes and families. These experiences have allowed me to work with people facing a wide range of difficulties in the story of their lives.
Central to my approach is the fundamental TA belief that people are “OK” and that we have an intrinsic ability to grow. I work integratively, providing a non-judgmental and contained space aiming to support my clients to better understand themselves and to welcome making meaning of their own journey of life.
Having both a creative and academic background, I am mindful of working with the balance between ‘thinking’ and ‘expressing feelings’ depending on your needs. I believe the relationship you have with me as your therapist will be central to our work together. I offer a safe space where we can build trust in each other that allows us to relate in an authentic, human way. As a non-native to the UK (I grew up in Hong Kong), I am particularly interested in the implications of ethnicity and empathetic to the difficulties that can arise. Your background is therefore important to me and I will be open to and respectful of our differences.
I work at Spiral on Wednesday evening.
