I completed my diploma in integrative counselling in 2003. I am currently in the final stages of my psychotherapy training which is based on a relational model of depth psychology. I am a registered UKCP member and adhere to their code of ethics and safe practice.
Some people come into therapy simply to support themselves in their lives, and to have a place where they are free to ‘feel and think out loud’, and to facilitate their personal and creative development. None of us is entirely stress-free or completely sorted, but at the same time being alive is not an illness! That said, life today is perhaps as challenging as it has ever been, and as human beings we sometimes have difficulties adjusting emotionally and psychologically, which may be expressed through, Depression, Anxiety, Bereavement and loss, Trauma and PTSD, Relationship difficulties, Marginalisation, and Surviving childhood abuse, and others not named here.
I have worked extensively with people who have experienced trauma, with people with learning disabilities, and with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. My training allows me to work within a framework of support in which it becomes possible for my clients to restore their sense of uniqueness, and enables me to foster and maintain deep and sustained emotional contact, and a supportive relationship that empowers and embraces difference and diversity.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and holistic, and I use a broad range of techniques and therapeutic models. This means that to the best of my ability, I seek to develop a way of working which is most appropriate to your individual way of being.
Approaches I draw from in developing a way of working with you, I draw especially from Relational, and Transpersonal approaches. Transpersonal practice draws from the wisdom of the psyche, philosophical traditions, dreams, myths, creative mediums and imagination to address issues about ‘way of life,’ to widen perspective, release feeling in a non-pathologising way, and open doors to new life possibilities.
I invite you to come with all your challenges and struggles without the fear of being judged. I am comfortable sitting with chaos, stuckness, and with the murky inner depths, and offer a warm and empathic space.
I work at Spiral on Saturdays.
