I have a diploma in Counselling (2010) and Psychotherapy (2017) from Re-Vision Centre for Integrative and transpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy with a soulful perspective. In addition to this I have a Certificate in Person Centred Art Therapy (2004) and a certificate in Group Facilitation (2014). I am accredited as a Psychotherapist with the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy).
My approach incorporates an integrative and transpersonal perspective which is at heart relational and honours the life of the soul. I don’t see myself as an expert but seek to offer my experience and a commitment to being transparent and authentic as we explore together what is arising in the client/therapist relationship. I seek to support the therapist to bring their whole self to the work, where they can risk bringing both the heights and depths and receive both support and challenge to grow and develop and become the best therapist they can be. I believe that what arises in the supervisory relationship can mirror and inform what might be happening in the work.
I started my working life as a Paediatric nurse and then worked for 20 years in a community for people with severe learning disabilities in a variety of caring and management roles. In this setting I began to work with groups and teams using the Myers Briggs Personality type indicator (MBTI) to facilitate personal development and as a safe and accessible way to reflect on personal differences and how this affects relationships. I also ran workshops on the theme of creativity and spirituality.
My main work is now in private practice (since 2010 – SE 27), facilitating personal development groups at Re-Vision and supervising trainees on placement at Spiral.
I work at Spiral on Wednesdays offering supervision to trainee therapists on placement and transitional therapists.
