Dalilah Baruti

Hello, I joined Spiral in February 2020 as a trainee and am now a qualified and experienced Counsellor, having completed my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in June 2021.  I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework.

I specialise in individual counselling and work integratively; I have trained in person centred, psychodynamic and Islamic counselling. My primary approach is person centred. My background is in the not-for-profit and afro cosmetics sector, where I developed a particular care towards issues of low self-esteem and discrimination.

As a black, Muslim woman and having worked with clients from different backgrounds, I know what it can be like to hold visible identities and appreciate how these can be in harmony or conflict with invisible aspects of ourselves, as well as contribute to feelings of difference. I know how healing it can be to explore our visible and invisible differences and experiences in a space that feels safe and not to have to navigate them alone.

I've significant experience exploring issues of low self-esteem, faith and identity and have worked at depth with clients who are navigating some of these struggles.

I will sensitively draw from various therapeutic techniques to tailor my approach to your unique needs.

I work at Spiral on Thursdays.
